Introduction You are considering embarking on a strategic collaboration, or someone has approached you proposing a collaboration. How do you know who the right partner is for you? And what do you stand to gain from this collaboration?
Goal and result The goal of the partner selection toolkit is to arrive at a well-founded choice for a specific partner. We start by broadly examining what your company needs and who could supply that. The selection process not only considers technical suitability, but also the strategic fit and cultural aspects. As a result you will find a partner appropriate for a long-term collaboration.
Methods Aside from the value engineering matrix, we have lists of selection criteria from which to distil those criteria that apply to your situation. We also work with a detailed Excel format that combines criteria, assessments and weight factors to create clear overviews. For the third workshop we have formats to determine, per shortlisted company, the viability and desired intensity of the collaboration.

Procedure The partner selection toolkit consists of three mini-workshops of approximately 3 hours each, supported by formats and methods. Your plans and the required knowledge and resources are the starting point.
In the first workshop we relate your quest to your strategy. What activities are best performed in-house, which activities can best be simply purchased, and for what do you really need a partner? To determine this we use the value engineering matrix. On the basis of this workshop you will be able to draw up or complete your own list of potential partners.
In the second workshop we reduce the longlist to a shortlist, by applying a list of criteria. Aside from your technical criteria we will consider practical, strategic and cultural criteria. We will take first steps towards a selection, so that you can subsequently fill in the missing details and arrive at a shortlist.
In the third workshop we move from the shortlist to a provisional choice, for which it would be good to already have conducted exploratory talks. We will line up and compare the results, with a particular view to strategic fit and the factors that will facilitate your collaboration. At the end of this workshop you will be left with a well-founded choice of partner.
Price The partner selection toolkit costs SGD 2500, VAT exclusive. You will be given the full set of lists and formats so that you can conduct any subsequent partner selection procedure independently.
